In the spring of 2004, the museum opened to the public with exhibitions over two floors, a café and museum shop. The museum features changing cultural heritage and contemporary exhibitions about people and events that characterise the Tromsø society. The station was built in 1926 and operated until 1991. The station is based round the long-wave transmitter of 10 kw from 1935, which was renovated in 1952.
