The world's northernmost botanic garden!
The botanical garden covers 2 ha and features the most important perennials and shrubs. The garden’s main structures are three terraces, a stream with a large dam and an undulating landscape for Arctic and alpine plants. The garden is open around the clock and functions as a public recreation area, as well as being a living museum with interesting plant collections.

The restaurant offers outdoor dining (weather permitting). Up at the summit, there is also a lavvu with the sale of Sami souvenirs and a children’s play area.


		HELLA AND SKAVBERG ROCK Hella, Kvaløya Hella is a popular outdoor area situated on the island of Kvaløya, 27 km from Tromsø. The strong Rystraumen current brings huge amounts of fish, and is one of the best fishing places in the area. Old houses from Tromsø are rebuilt here, giving you a chance to walk the streets of the past. In the same area 4500 year-old rock art testifies to the activities of early hunters.

The sightseeing tour lasts about 40 minutes.

The guide takes you on a tour starting in the old beer cellars, which date from 1877. During the tour, we visit the beer and soft drink tapping room, the brew house, yeast cellar and the storage cellar. We also provide detailed information about Mack’s development from 1877 up to the present day.

The tour ends at "Tromsø’s oldest pub" Ølhallen where you will receive a pleasant surprise with your choice of beer in historic surroundings. You will also receive a boot-shaped beer glass and a Mack pin.

Blåst is owned and operated by glass blowers who want to turn Tromsø into a warmer and more exciting city! We blow glass in our workshop virtually all day. If you visit us, you can see the transition from glowing and molten glass to the most beautiful objects. The heat radiates from the furnaces and the glass blowers may share a secret or two with curious visitors.


		POLSTJERNA Hjalmar Johansens gate 12 www.polstjerna.no Polstjerna is a 1949 wooden seal hunting vessel. This well preserved ship went on 33 Arctic trapping expeditions, and brings the life of Arctic hunters to life for new generations.

In 1976, the museum became part of the University of Tromsø. The museum comprises six departments: geology, botany, zoology, archaeology, modern cultural history and Sami ethnography. Each department has large collections documenting more than a century of exploration of the region and other parts of the High North.

The museum is housed in a restored and listed Customs House dating from the 1830s, which has an idyllic located in the historic Skansen area.

The museum is run by defence-related societies in the Municipality of Tromsø. The aim is to take care of the Armed Force’s history in the municipality, with particular focus on World War II.


		PERSPEKTIVET MUSEUM Storgata 95 Phone: +47 77 60 19 10 www.perspektivet.no In 2002, the Perspektivet Museum moved into one of the city’s most beautiful wooden buildings, a listed patrician house built by trader Daniel Mack in 1838. In the spring of 2004, the museum opened to the public with exhibitions over two floors, a café and museum shop. The museum features changing cultural heritage and contemporary exhibitions about people and events that characterise the Tromsø society. Exhibitions are announced on the museum’s website and in brochures.


		PERSPEKTIVET MUSEUM FOLKEPARKEN Kvaløyvegen 55. bus route 34 Phone: +47 77 60 19 10 www.perspektivet.no This open air museum features a collection of houses from the Tromsø region, including Kvitnesgården, which dates from 1826 and has a preserved interior, a mansion from the trading post of Kvitnes in Karlsøy Municipality, Mortensgården, a solid timber building dating from 1850 and featuring interior exhibitions, and a boathouse with traditional Nordland boats.

There is also an exhibition of furniture and implements that were used on the farm.


		NORWEGIAN MUSEUM OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS, TROMSØ Kvaløyveien 450 Phone: +47 77 61 52 89 www.telemuseum.no/ Tromsø Broadcasting Station features an historic collection. The station was built in 1926 and operated until 1991. The station is based round the long-wave transmitter of 10 kw from 1935, which was renovated in 1952. The collection also contains telegraph and telephone equipment, switchboards and telephone booths.
